Dry season game drives, green season bargains or migration river crossings? Here is when to come for the trip you want.
Tanzania is a year-round destination, but each season offers something different.
June to October is the classic dry season — vegetation is thin, animals gather at waterholes and the Great Migration crosses the Mara River. This is peak season, so book early.
November to March brings the short rains, calving season in the southern Serengeti and superb birdwatching. January and February are ideal for Kilimanjaro treks.
April and May are the long rains: some lodges close, but prices drop dramatically and the landscape turns a magnificent green. For coffee tours and cultural experiences, any month works — the villages welcome you all year.
